Allport are proud to have been chosen for the third time in succession, to support Geopost, delivering the logistics backbone of Sports Relief 2010.
On Sunday 21st March 165,000 people across the length and breadth of the country took to the streets to participate in the 'Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile', along with a host of famous faces, completing one, three, or six miles at 16 Flagship Mile cities around the UK.
Behind the scenes Allport's Overland team coordinated the simultaneous national movement of 30 articulated trailer loads of infrastructure to the Sport Relief teams at each of the 16 Flagship Cities, so that they could manage and launch each event at the prescribed times.
With most events taking place in city centres, deliveries were made as late as possible through the night, to avoid congestion, with some completing unloading just hours before the first events started.
Allport's transport team liaised with each Flagship location in advance, to scope and plan delivery, including Police traffic control issues on site and closure of affected roads.
"Yet again Sports Relief were given the very best possible service. Meeting and exceeding our very high expectations.
Their careful planning ensured all deliveries went to plan. Any last minute changes were accommodated with ease, even if they were requested on the day of the event. We could not have asked for more".
